Idle

I have a 1991 VIP 183 with an I/O 4 CYL 3.0 LX 150 HP Merc Alpha 1. The motor seems to be idleing low and will die sometimes, even after it has been running for a while. Where can I adjust the idle? Is there another problem that I should be looking for? What should the motors RPM's be when idleing?
