Idle

Some say to make my idle adjustment 750-800 rpm in the water in gear tied up to the dock. Shouldn't it be made in gear moving across the water? due to the difference in prop pressure being tied to the dock and not?This carb work sucks 75 hp 1996 Force single carb. The guy i dought the boat from thought you made the idle adjustment on the lingage rod going to the cam instead of the screw at the top of the tower.So i have had to start from scratch.

Tying up to the dock is a safety issue and a must if doing it alone.
Can be done with two people out on the water and a very calm day.
makes no difference on the prop resistance or pressure either way.
At the start of the forum page there is a sticky, link and sink and it may help you out.

If you adjusted the cam?? Do the linc and sinc.First or second post in the Force section.
That sets up the linkage for proper operation.
The set up is pretty easy.
If the roller and mark on the cam don't line up the high idle won't work right.
Tying up to the dock is for safety.
Getting out in the water and stalling 5 or 6 times might get dangerous.
The difference between the final results of not being tied to the dock is not noticable.
