idling speed solution needed

Hi, out there, can anybody help me with following problem. I have small open deplacement boat (16 ft) with inboard diesel (Sole 15HP), turning shaft and ending with 15x10 in propeller (3 blades). Now, the engine at idle gives too much power to the prop, and the boat runs at appr. 2,7 kts. During long period trawling I need a solution to slow down the propeller push and boat speed, but without putting strain to the engine. So, is there any solution to maybe restrict the water flow to the propeller, thus slowing the boat without expensive solutions like trolling valve and complicated gearboxes. Thank You all in advance for any input and help. Niksa Glavic, Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Being an inboard, a trolling plate won't work. Some people drag wind socks, which is probably the least expensive, but can get in the way sometimes.

Nauticus has a troller bracket that places their smart tabs further down to create drag. I imagine manual tabs can be found that do, as well.

What speed do you need? What is the idle rpm? Usually the best solution is a trolling plate or other device to create drag.Generally a prop change doesn't reduce speed enough.
You might varify that your idle rpm is accurate and see if it is practical to reduce the rpm.
