Who would have thought that the majority would vote the same way that Ozzie would?
Just lends some more validity to how badly Dubya has mismanaged things.....
Tuesday will bear this out........JK

You seem to have forgotten to answer the question here haut. Who do you think Osama would vote for?

Come on PW2 - I can't have an opinion if isn't consistent with yours? I'm hardly new to the position, just new to this discussion of it.

I'm not a Clinton blamer - but no one, you included, has been able to justify his failures to address what he knew to be a growing problem.

I didn't mention this to bash Clinton (but how can you point out what he did without it sounding like a bash eh?). Instead I'd hoped to shed some light on the idea that someone had to do something about terrorism. We had 8 years of inaction and that got us several significant terrorist attacks culminating with 9-11. Find fault with Bush's approach, but at least give him credit for actually doing SOMETHING about it.

Or was doing "nothing" the right answer again? If not, what was the right answer? What should Bush have done?

"Do something even if it is wrong " is not a plan.....
Afghanistan was justified because that is where our attackers were based......
In Iraq, he should have shown patience & "stayed the course" & continued to try diplomatic means to achieve his goals.....
Reminds me of that old poster with the vultures.....
Patience he11, I'm gonna kill something!.......JK

Oh, & has anyone noticed the convenient timing of Saddy's sentencing with regard to the upcoming elections?
Coincidence?
Suuuuuuure!........:|

How many decades of "diplomacy" are required?

Our ability to apply leverage through diplomatic means was limited at best and obviously not very effective. It's easy to be patient when we aren't being attacked, almost as easy to be patient when we're being attacked, but not on our own soil, but impossible when the threat is on our own shores - that ship sailed on 09-11-2001, never to return.

I'm not pleased with the way the war has been prosecuted. We should have used and retained more force the whole way through - but - it is what it is and we have to make some decisions about how to get the best result from the circumstances.

Osama and those of his ilk want us to bail so they can reconstitute their effort and take the country - and the entire region - again.

I agree with you about the obvious timing of Hussein's sentencing but the Dems just couldn't stall it any longer in spite of their best efforts. 8)

Hope im not being to bold stepping in here in place of PW, I think I have could add to some of the above questions though, if PW wants to add to it be my guest.

Yes he did something right in attacking Afghanistan, home of Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban very justifiable in my Opinion. Very credible, had almost the entire world behind him as well as the American people. Now here comes the Pregnant BUT, why couldn’t he have finished the first war before starting the second one?

In the case of looking for the Bogyman of weapons of mass destruction that got us in to this Quagmire "YES Nothing" would have been preferable to listening to the likes of **** Cheney and Don Rumsfeld, and following there Doctrine of using just enough troops to lose? Yes again "nothing" would have been much preferable to what has followed /continues.

And yes "nothing" would have been better than sending troops into combat without the proper equipment, so that some soldiers in the field were left to buy their own body armor and to retrofit their own jeeps with scrap metal so that roadside bombs in Iraq would only maim them for life and not kill them.

What should Bush have done?

He should have finished the first war before going into the second war, if that would have happened just maybe we would have had better intelligence, no guarantees with this gang but who knows might have happened.

You're right, one thing at a time - and you're right again, not enough resource to make an immediate and decisive victory. Like I said, I'm not entirely happy about the tactics of the Bush Administration. At the same time I take issue with those who criticise but haven't even a hint of their own "better idea". I'm afraid we've seen the better idea of many Bush-haters during the previous Administration and that wasn't effective either.

Don’t know if I would be considered a Bush hater or not, definitely not his biggest fan.

For a better idea?

Don’t have one we have to stay in Iraq till it is stabilized, as Colin Powell said we broke it we have to fix it.

Still don’t want to reward incompetence with another term do you? If they are rewarded no telling what they will think, might even think that they are doing a good job. Cant have that now can we.

If Osama had a vote ?=Hangin Chad GWb of course.

"Iraq does pose a serious threat to the stability of the Persian Gulf and we should organize an international coalition to eliminate his access to weapons of mass destruction. Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to completely deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power." Former Vice President Al Gore, 2002

"I share this administration's goals in dealing with Iraq and its weapons of mass destruction." - Richard Gephardt, September 2002

"There is no doubt that Saddam Hussein's regime is a serious danger, that he is a tyrant, and that his pursuit of lethal weapons of mass destruction cannot be tolerated. He must be disarmed." - Senator Edward Kennedy, September 2002

Uhhhhhh.... it wasn't just ****, Don, and W.... Keep your histoy straight.
