If there is a log in the water I will hit it.

Today was the first day out in about six months. All the new upgrades that I bought and installed over the winter all worked out very well except for the Pertronix ignition upgrade. It didn't fit inside my distributor but that is a different story.
On my way back from my favorite spot doing about 30mph I ran over another 8"X8"X10' piece of pier floating just below the surface. For the second time in two seasons,"BANG" then click, click, click (5 times ) as the outdrive's gears spun past each other before I got it in neutral. Shut it down and raised the drive (Volvo 270 with a bronze prop) expecting the worse (seeing the 8X8 board broken in half behind the boat). Looking at it I could see no damage. I lowered it back in the water and crossed my fingers as I started it and put it in gear. Off I went, speedo wasn't working but that was just the sending unit flipped up, I hope. On my way home I tried it at all speeds with no abnormal affects. After pulling it out at the ramp I couldn't even find where it hit the drive.
Still feeling a little nervous about it tonight (thinking I may have hurt something) and always hearing on how strong old Volvo outdrives are it sure would make me feel a little better if I could here a couple of those stories now. Thanks Mark

Yes Sir... Mr. F_inscreenname, I know what you went through.. Just maybe, today was your luckey day... I certainly hope so...

I once ran over a just slightly submerged plywood ping-pong table that some how found it's way into the canal where I ran my Ski Nautique... Although it's not a Volvo outdrive, that straight inboard sawed, nah wait, more like chopped that ping-pong table in half longways right up the middle almost like I was aiming to do it that way (I was not), without so much as a scratch on the prop, drive train, or the boat...

Wow! I was on a sea trial and we hit a small log at 33 mph. It broke the Alpha 1 in half and it flipped up and put some nasties in the swim grid. The drive would've been gone forever but the trim rams were still attached. We got a few funny looks at the ramp when we pulled it back out. Glad to hear you had better luck!

Went out on Monday. Ran the hell out it for about a ten mile trip at all different speeds. Knock on a floating log, there hasn't been any problems. We will see.
