look under your dash at your ignition wiring. all are supposed to be color coded but when i remeber pulling this thing out last year there are 2 H connectors. black and gray wires out of the switch go into their H's were 2 more wires can be pluged into the top and 2 more on the bottom. i seem to remember one of these colors being inserted into the opposite colors bottom H connector. ie black on gray or vise versa. or if you can take a high res pic and email it to mtg@myappraisalservice.com id pay you for it. engine cuts fuel or retards timing at exactly 3000 rpm and wasnt a problem before i did this.

All colors will match. You have a stuck neutral switch on the engine. It is telling the ECM that you are still in neutral so it is activating a rev limiter. Working the shifter back and forth a few times sometimes frees it up. If not, you will have to remove the starboard side cover and work the switch plunger with a pair of needle nose pliers.

no, i took it off and shorted it to make sure that wasnt the problem. and no its never been under water. hooked up a different black wire and now all my gauges and idiot lights come on. all wires are hooked up on ignition switch but i have a spare black and a spare gray. still looking to pay for a high res pic. $25.

Are they a female or male bullet connector? If they are male's they go into the "H" connector. If they are females, then they are either the spares that come of the gauge harness, or the daisy chain feeds coming off the tach for additional gauges (black is ground, grey is ignition +).

i have 2 h bullet female connectors. one with a black and one with a gray. but i have 3 black males and 3 gray males. are all 3 in your h connectors?
