My new eco-friendly skateboard company (shout out to Backyard Skateboards!!) is doing pretty well so I am pulling the trigger on my realistic dream boat this week! 2003 Rinker 270 FV.

If the business continues to do well and I can pilot it ..... maybe someday it will be onto the Rinker 400!!

I think that I would probably go for a midsized Norhavn if I could choose anything. Something like this:

However, my dream is to do the great loop someday and since that boat would draft to much, I have my eye on these:

It is a Fathom 40 raised pilothouse fast expedition trawler with flybridge! Single diesel engine with bow and stern thruster. Very fuel efficient and manuverable.

I'd go with the Hinkley T29, but then my tastes are simple.

Re: If you could have ANY boat...

I love the functional looks and apparent performance, I wonder what they cost?

The one pictured is the prototype and is 83 feet long. The couple that owns it/built it switched from sailing a 78 foot boat called Beowulf (it's famous in sailing circles) to the power boat. They were pleasantly surprised to discover that the power boat cost much less per mile to operate than the sailboat. They have logged over 37,000 miles on it and have kept very accurate records.

The production model is the FPB 64. It looks very similar and has similar space, but is not quite as slender looking. I think it costs $2.16 million, but comes completely ready to cruise around the world, including tools and all necessary spare parts.

I have been following the progress of this design since the beginning and am dreaming of someday having one.

Here's the latest prodcution photos of the 64: http://setsail.com/fpb-64-update-16/#more-6674

The build quality and attention to detail is impressive.

Very nice boats and yes the build quality seems outstanding. Could imagine the wife and I cruising and diving for months on one. The shallow draft would open up many places otherwise out of reach.

Only the 2.16mil and operating cost stand in our way, perhaps I should start a fund here for us? :D

Lund Impact 1675 SS. It's the right size for what I do and has everything I need.

For my needs probably a Formula Sun sport 24-26ft? Or a comperable Cobalt.

Single engine, 496HO and a lifetime supply of fuel!

The Addy Gil is high on my list if it can be raised from the bottom of the ocean off the Antarctic but I see 100000RPM has first dibs on it. I have always liked one of the Nantucket lightships that has been refurbished to a private vesssel. When I have seen it most recently in Newport but last year in Marthas Vineyard. It always puts a smile on my face.
I also like the research vessel "the Belefonte" from one of my favorite movies "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" as long as it comes with the mini sub, the hot air baloon, the and the steam room and hot tub is in working order.

I enjoy power boating but as size goes up so does fuel consumption.

I like the idea of more room and the ability to go using a minimal amount of fuel and the capacity to live aboard.
This is how I would like to retire ( no lawn to mow).
