Yep, old Amphicar. Look on youtube, several there. Not overweight, that's how it swims.

WJM, are you talking about DKW's from WW2, or something else? There used to be some in Chattanooga, but I think they got grounded.....IDK that's been a few years ago.

Yes, they are WWII amphibious vehicles-my wife and I did a tour in Boston and one in Baltimore. It's pretty neat to take a tour of the city and then just drive down a boat ramp into the river or bay and then see the city from the water. It's the same company (I think they're called "Ride the Ducks") and they are in most eastern cities that are on water (New York, Boston, Philly, Washington, etc...)-I don't know the latest but they did suspend operations for a while. There was a terrible accident in Philadelphia where a duck boat that was dead in the water (engine trouble) and waiting for a tow was hit by a sludge barge being pushed up the Delaware by a tug. Two of the passengers drowned-they were vacationing students from Europe :( The tug operator was found to be on a cell phone at the time of the accident and was just charged. I don't know if they're back in action again yet.

These look more fun to me :)

I believe the Philly Duck boats are back in action again now with numerous safety improvements & regulations.

My neighbour has an Amphicar on the Shuswap. Takes it out several times a week. Pretty red, pretty slow, pretty expensive.
WaterCar makes some really fun ones now. Still really expensive. Still can get red.
