Ignition and Distributor Help???

I have a '92 3.0L Mercruiser and want to learn about its ignition system and how to properly tune this part of the engine. <br />I am proficient with mostly all other parts and want to understand this better.<br />Are there points and a condensor? Rotor?<br />What is the proper way to replace the cap and rotor. Adjustments etc.<br />Thanks in advance

Hey sea ray steve, what prop you run on your 3.0??? I put a 4 blade michigan 20 pitch, im just trying to find the right one..

Rob ....interesting you ask. I have a 14.5x19 and I was thinking about grabbing a 4 blade. Hows yours work? <br />Mine hits WOT perfect with 2-3 people in it and trimmed out. I want more of a hole shot though

steve<br /><br />On of the best things you can do is vent the prop it allows to slip at lower RPM were the 3.0 does not make a lot of power and give a better holeshot with out affecting the top speed<br /><br /><br />On my boat it allows it to act like a close to a 17" on holeshot and like a normal 19" at speed<br /><br />
