Ignition coil swap...fail

I noticed my ignition coil was leaking oil. And was very hot to the touch. So I ran to the local marina and bought a replacement. I plugged all wires in exactly the same way and now it won't fire.
Thinking it could have been the wrong coil I went back to the old coil and again no fire?
Did I miss a step?

You will need to be a little more specific as to what electronic ignition set up you have. The original ignition system with the points would have wanted an externally resisted coil. With the electronic ignition you PROBABLY want an internally resisted coil with the resistor wire bypassed. But let us know what you have.

Photo the dissy and the old coil, then the new one and post them up.... (include any writing on the new coil in the photo)..
