I recently did some work changing the thermostats on my engine. While i was under the hood i threw a set of new spark plugs on it. I have taken it out on the lake a couple of times since then. Last week it seemed to run pretty good maybe the best it has run in the year or so i've had this boat. Well i was out yesterday and it had been running good all day long but we decided to stop in a cove and park so the kids could swim for a while i would say we were stopped for at least a couple hours. when i tried to leave it seemed to hesitate starting, i did finally get it running and it didnt sound right and had no power. If i had to guess it sounded like it wasnt firing on all cylinder maybe 2. We limped it back to the trailer and pulled it home. I got a chance to look at it today and same story it sounds like it is really missing. I decided to do a simple test pulled the plug wires on one side and no change it sounded the same. put them back on and pulled the other side and it would not start i am guessing this is the side that is not firing. So i took out all 4 plugs and 1 plug on the side i think is not firing looks as if it has never fired since i put it in 2 weeks ago it is still clean and shiney. Does anyone have a suggestion on what i can do to find out what is causing it to not fire? could this be a powerpack gone bad?

That engine has dual identical power packs. Each controls the spark to a head. You can swap them and then re-check the spark. If the "no spark" issue moves with the change of power packs, you've probably got a bad pack.

yes, i read that in another thread after i posted this. i swapped the power packs and the no spark issue changed sides also.

you need 1 new power pack.

like said above you've found the problem now just replace the powerpack and enjoy the engine.

by the way how much fuel does that engine use an hour ?
