I have a 1993 stratos 278 with a johnson v-6 150 hp outboard on it. and my question is on this boat, should the motor run with out the switch on it, or is this one that if you were to fall you that it will snap off and remove the key killing the engine. i bought this boat used. i do not currently have a manaul for. i do have a shop manual for the engine, not currently in my possesion. or maybe is this something where it has been rigged to run with out it. any thoughts or suggestions would be great! thanks

Re: ignition kill switch

it should have a key and an emergency kill switch lanyard, but the kill switches were not standard equipment in 1993.

Re: ignition kill switch

when you say key, is that the ignition key, and the lanyard, i assume is the plastic peice that fits around the key to kill the ignition if i were to fall out, that must be what the piece is called the i broke last night trying to figure out how it works.
