Hi, I have a "new to me" 1992 Four Winns Horizon 200 with a 5.0 OMC I/O. The motor ran great but the starter didn't disengage right away after starting so I took it to a local marina to have a new starter put in as well as to have the trim gauge repaired/replaced and to have a new bilge pump put in. Like I said the thing ran great when I brought it in. I got it back yesterday and tried to run it but it would not get up on plane and would not go above 2k rpm. When i put it in neutral it did rev higher. I took it back to dealer and now they are telling me the ignition module is bad. My questions are:
Do these ignition modules just go bad?
Could the mechanic have somehow damage the ignition module when installing the new starter?
I just find it very coincidental that it ran great before I brought it in and now it has this problem. I don't want to pay for a repair that was caused by dealer.
Thank you.
