Re: ignition module

there is a way to wire them so that when you short out one of the leads it fires the coil but im not sure on the diagram. it would probably be in a service manual though. if its after its hot id presume the coil is shot though...

Re: ignition module

Sounds more like vaporlock, a fuel issue. Are you sure you're losing spark? Or does it just crankity crankity crank without starting when it's warm? If you have an inductive pickup timing light, connect it to a plug lead. If it flashes, you have spark.

Re: ignition module

took the coil lesd off the distributer and found i had no spark coming to it thats why i replaced the coil but the problem is still the same?? gave it a good run last weekend and also found that it was loosing power after a while at higher rpms..(felt like lack of petrol) ??

Rob: Wow - most of us have trouble just posting in proper English - "nothing but the best", indeed!

There is a means of checking your EST ignition module, and it is found in the Mercruiser Service Manual; I believe it may be in one of the Service Bulletins. Go to this link:

http://www.boatfix.com/merc/mainmenu.pdf

and peruse the Service Bulletins. Although you have an Indmar inboard, you will find helpful information amongst the bulletin information pertinent to the various systems that these motors all share in common.
