I've already fixed up one of these motors but now I've got another one to work on. I believe it has one bad coil and for sure one bad point. The point connected to this coil we fried. Literally, the plastic part that the screw goes through was completely melted. The harder plastic type part that makes the metal point part open and close off of the shaft was completely crispy. Like charcoal that fell apart in my hand.

I'm assuming there was a short in the motor somewhere, but before I even try and diagnose that issue I was looking at replacement parts. Last time I did this a few years ago they were a lot cheaper. Last time I got a coil for 40ish and points were about 20 i think. This time the coil is 65, and one point was $95...just one!

What I'm wondering is...are there other alternatives? Anything I can do?
