ignition problem

i bought a 1975 merc 650 (65 hp)put it on the boat runs good but the throtle was tight so i took the controles apart to grease them. put it all back together and the ignition didn't work. i have power to the electric choke but not to start. any ideas?

thoroughly recheck everything you took apart and go from there.

i am going to get a new ignition and neutral safty switch in the next couple days. the wires on them are very curroded but touching the red and yellow wire together from the pigtail turnes the motor over......i didn't try to start it but hopefully that will cure the problem. oh and believe me i looked over everything i did 5 or 6 times because i know how errors can occur.
