Installed a new battery hoping for the first time outing today. Hooked up the battery properly, and found that I have nothing working. No guages, no lights, no ignition. (WOn't turn over, not even a click).

At first I thought I had gotten a bad battery, had it load tested, and it was fine.

Looked for blown fuses. Nothing.

Finally jumped from slenoid to ignition switch, and got lights, and guages, but wouldn't crank. In all fairness, I was using some jumper cables that were test lead extensions.

ONLY thing I can think of is:

1) Bad ground? (Trim button works)

2) Bad ignition switch

Ideas??

Forgot to mention this is a 2006 LARSON 204 Escape f/s with a 5.0 Carburated engine. BOat only has 76 hours on it, and NEVER gave a problem befors.

What is a TKS fuse?

TKS = Turn Key Starting

"Mercury MerCruiser's exclusive Turn Key Starting system is standard on all carbureted engines. This patented feature eliminates the hassle of starting a cold engine. Simply turn the key. No choke, no pumping or priming required. This means that the entire Mercury MerCruiser gas line-up features Turn Key Starting. No other engine manufacturer can match that"

The "TKS fuse" being exclusive to this system.

Try this as a starting place....
