ignition switch

changing from a single lever control to a dual lever control, bought a new ignition switch for panel hooks up to harness i have power and alarm ,but no starter ,there are two brown wires left over was thinking neutral switch, new dual controls do not have electrical just cables morse. do i bypass the neutral switch?

Do think your talking about a lawn mower, could help us if you could tell us what are you working on. Merc, VP, other, which motor? Year can help but serial numbers in most cases are best

You still do not want the motor to start in gear, so a neutral safety switch is a must. I would expect your control will have one.

its a 2008 suzuki 175hp

Not real familiar with Suzuki but with everything working but just won't crank, I would think those 2 brown wires are for neutral safety. Could probably connect them together for test, but lets test first

Use a voltmeter and measure each wire for 12V when key is turned to start. If one goes hot and the other does not, connect together and try again.

If it does turn out to be neutral safety, then you need get setup another method of making placing a neutral safety inline
