I have replaced my 2003 3.0L w/ a new crate engine. All components were used on the new engine with the exception of the carburetor , alternator and the addition of a fresh water cooling system. The long block comes with the distributer that has the EST (electronic spark timing). Reviewing the service manual to obtain the proper advance timing specifications leaves me confused. Based on the serial number breaks there are 3 specifications. 1deg BTDC,1deg ATDC, and 2 deg. ATDC. Do any of the these apply, or is there any information on the EST module in the distributer that would tell what the proper advance would be?

Any help would be extremely appreciated.

you do not want to set the timing greater than 1 deg BTDC, keep it at zero or ATDC
