Ignition wire on 1979 90hp merc?

Where might i connect the ignition wire from say an hour meter to my engine? or mercontroller??

Are you saying you want to hook up a hour meter? If so it would go to the purple wire off the switch so it would be on only when the switch is on.

is the purple ignition wire one of the three that goes to the tach from the mercontrol?

Napps, The tach should only have power when the key switch is on. You can connect the hourmeter to that.
