Yeah its supposed to lift off. Warm it a bit with a heat gun/hair dryer, maybe?

nahh... they are glued on from the factory... that and who knows how much rust is on the distro shaft.

A light hammer and a sharp chisel is all you need.

Depends on the rotor type. Double check the book.

If engine still runs, run it to warm it up, then give it a try.

Hope you have success

it has the thunderbolt ignition system on it, but the book doesn't go into much detail about it so i figured it should just lift off.

JustJason is correct. Many of these rotors are locktited on . . . I have used a propane torch.

ok, so i cut it off with a chisel, do i need to glue the new one, or just put it on there? the manual is great if you know what you are doing i guess.

I locktited my last one. I don't think Merc would do it because they own stock in Locktite . . .

It's glued on.

I had the same problem and used a heat gun as stated above.

Some people use heat i guess... i've just chiseled them off. Just go lightly and use a sharp chisel... you don't want to whack the thing so hard that you bend the shaft (be pretty hard to do... but i wouldn't put it past anybody)

And no... you don't have to glue the new one on.
