Hey guys....I filled out all the paperwork, and sent it to the dnr with a check.

Check was cashed, and the other day I received my registration paper in the mail....but no stickers for the hull.

Should they still be on their way do you think?? Or did I do something wrong??

Yeah, sorry, we live in Illinois. It can't be that easy. Methinks some DNR employee forgot to put the stickers in the envelope. Maybe, just maybe they were out of stickers, but I doubt it. Call 'em.

Registration papers should come with the stickers,if I remember correctly. Did you get the title? The title will be a seperate mailing.
Also, the state will supply you with 2 stickers, shaped like the state, with the registered numbers on them-you will have to buy the numbers [like: Il 4343 ha] at a hardware store or Walmart or some place.
Go online to look at the DNR diagram of where the stickers and reg #'s should be located on your boat.

Good news is that the weather isn't cooperating and you aren't going out anytime soon. You will have it figured out by then. ;)

ya' got that right!!!! Mine is out in the back yard needing a days worth of work to be ready,no hurry.. Walleye tournament here a few weeks ago, about 100 boats landing 2000 lbs of fish-I got chills just driving past that river. My boating begins when the temp is at least 70 degrees.

Honestly, I can't remember what I got....looked it over, and threw it in a drawer after noticing it had no stickers with it..
I think it was registration....smaller sized paper, blue colored ink...I'm going to stop home for lunch and I'll look.

Tell your wife to keep her eyes open then,[and don't throw out any mail without double checking]the reg and stickers should follow the title soon!!!

Re: Illinois boat question

I asked her if she saw anything in my name from the DNR......you should have seen the look on her face....

She didn't remember throwing anything out....so hopefully you're right.
Title first, then registration stuff....what a PITA.

Re: Illinois boat question

the one and only time i bought a boat out of state, it took forever to get the sticker and registration numbers for the hull. illinois is very slow. i went on my first fishing trip without having the hull numbers and got checked by lake patrol 2 times in one week. i was legal with the paperwork but it was still a PITA.

Re: Illinois boat question

Are you not in an area where you could have gone to the DNR in person? I just bought on out of state boat (Indiana) and registered it in Ohio. Wasn't too much a hassle. Walked in with the title and walked out with registration and stickers. Now the trailer was another story. The DNR doesn't do trailers, only boats. So I had to drive clear over to the BMV to register the trailer, only to find out I needed to get the trailer weighed, without the boat. So I'm scratching my head as to how I'm supposed to get the trailer weighed with the boat on it. So I called the Four Winns dealer in town and asked if they knew where I could get this done. No problem, they said. They could do this at the dealership. So I went to the dealership and sure enough one of the sales guys filled out the weight slip w/o weighin it. After all, they sell these trailers, so they already know the weight. Then he asked if I needed to register the boat, as they did that as well!! Couldn't believe it...I could have skipped the DNR altogether and did everything at our local Four Winns dealer.

Re: Illinois boat question

Keep your application for registration and a copy of your title in the boat until you get the stickers. You can boat without them for 90 or 120 days after you filed for registration. Did you pay your sales tax on the purchase? Thats the one you should be most worried about. A sweet little penalty for late payment of sales tax
