Re: Illinois boat question

Keep your application for registration and a copy of your title in the boat until you get the stickers. You can boat without them for 90 or 120 days after you filed for registration. Did you pay your sales tax on the purchase? Thats the one you should be most worried about. A sweet little penalty for late payment of sales tax

Taxes?? Hmm, can't say that I did.

My boat is only 15' long...."class 1".
Paperwork said that anything 16' and up needs the tax paperwork filled out on it....I hope..LOL

Called them today....registration comes 2 to 3 weeks after the title.

Re: Illinois boat question

Well gents......took the boat out last week for her maiden voyage to the beautiful I&M Canal just outside Chicago.
Buddy and I went out for a shakedown run, and a little tournament carp fishing...LOL.

Fired her up, and off we went....with a horrendous spray of filthy canal water spewing up from the transom...stopped and re trimmed the motor fixed this problem.
Was able to get 23mph on my gps with us two (400lbs), a six pack, and a six gallon tank of gas...not too bad I think for an old 15' tri hull.

Tiller steering is kinda weird to me still...LOL, backwards...I think I got it down though.

Oh, and what's in the mail when I got home......my registration stickers!!!!
