I'm an idiot-Shift cable issues

Ok, I'm ready to take my lumps on this one. But will not turn in my iboat membership card (yet).

Installed new cables...120hp Mercruiser..
Got a bunch of issues resolved, she running pretty darn good

BUT

I shift FWD, it goes into gear, but no throttle.

I shift RVSE, it shifts AND accelerates as I draw the lever back.

I obviously have something arse backwards in the controller?

May be mistaken but that looks like a box for a outboard

They must have used in in both applications, it is the one listed in the Merc I/O oem manual too..

Have you ever downloaded the oem service manual for your engine and drive?
Manual #1 covers that control and how to change the cables. Might want to give it a look.

I have studied that page...

I think I attached the throttle cable to the upper shift unit and the shift unit to the carb....

Must have been out getting my skull baked too long in the 95 degree sun!
