I'm in Japan and the boat quit on the family.

OK, 7,000 mile diagnosis !!!!
Motor cut out over the weekend on my son and family. I am still away on business trip. Son did some checking and testing and motor has really weak and intermittent spark on all cylinders. Longe range thoughts from Japan are power pack and / or rectifier.
Any thoughts would be great as I am far far away.

Sounds like powerpack. Need a DVA meter to check otherwise it is the cost of a new one. Thought you were in China? Sorry about the problems with the boat but the party is still going strong.

They have ordered a power pack and a rectifier already. Was in China for the last 2 weeks and am now in Japan till 10th August when hopefully I will be back in Canada !!! Not worried if it turns out to be something else, aleays good to have extra spare stuff.

First guess would have to be the power pack without checking anything with the proper meters.
