I'm guessing if you now did a decarb and tested again you'd have even better numbers.

They're fixed jets. No adjustments. You'll need to make a tool to remove the jets and give them a proper cleaning. Do a search on carb tool you'll get a pile of postings.

Re: i'm new on boat Johnson outboard 150HP

Both.

26 is your idle jet and 33 is your high-speed jet. Both should be removed and cleaned with the tool. And, the passage behind should be cleaned as well. There's two of each for each carb.

Underneath #2 is the idle jet capilaries. Its a good idea to remove #2, clean underneath, and replace it with a new one. A service manual will detail it all out for you.

Re: i'm new on boat Johnson outboard 150HP

First of all, if you ran the engine for any length of time w/o water you probably fried your impeller. I can tell you from experience that 10 seconds is all it takes (hooking up muffs is all fine and good, forgetting to turn on the water isn't).

To test the solenoid, disconnect the outlet tube and push the key in. You should see gas.

It's a little abnormal to have to pump the gas each time you start. If you have to do it right after an extended run I'd be looking at the float level. I wouldn't suspect anything just yet though.

Re: i'm new on boat Johnson outboard 150HP

Oh, in that case, take off the outer airbox cover and push the key in. You should see both choke butterflies close completely and evenly. The choke butterflies should open completely when you let the key out.

This not only checks your solenoid, but also your choke linkage adjustments.

Edit: Just so the language is clear. Turning the key - rotating the key clockwise or anti-clockwise. Pushing the key - pushing the ignition assembly w/ key inserted inward.
