Edit:I think what you were trying to say is that you didn't agree with what your Grandma said and since she symbolized what a Christian was to you that it turned you away from becoming one.The part that confused me was the wording of your closing sentence.
Yeah ob, what didn't "square" was the christian belief that if Jesus wasn't accepted as a saviour then a Jew will go to hell no matter how rightious one may be.
That cured me of being a christian early. And later it made me realize that christians that believe this don't hold Jesus in very high regard.

Oh well, time to apologise......................

rolmops, sorry but I'm only the messenger and the Glazers aren't liked in Manchester. To balance that I'd have to say that Manchester United aren't liked by most of the UK population either so they probably support the Glazers.................. d:)
I've edited my post so it isn't offensive to you rolmops.

Link I apologise for continuing the debate on sports instead of religion. In the UK football is a religion and I'm agnostic 8)

Oh, and I'm not, never have been, never will be, an American male, and for that I don't apologise d:)

Back on topic, Gods do they exist? Of course they do, who else could have designed women?

Re: I'm sick of politics. Let's discuss religion.

Cheers Link, I'll bet my apology didn't sound right but it was meant as genuine........although the bit about not being an American male.........well!

That's the problem with t'internet, people can't see or hear the tone of voice and the emoticons we have here don't really help much (and the smiley face still doesn't work properly).

I reckon not only did God design women but that God was a woman.......who else would have stuck men's "bits" were they did? They constantly get in the way and are the first bits to get hit in a fight :^
Then again, anyone who can hit my bits deserves a medal for accuracy.......living proof that God is a woman with a wicked sense of humor :'(

Stan there is absolutely no reason to apologize to me.
For our yearly temple fundraiser raffle, the Glazers usually donate a few tickets with airfare and lodgings for the Buffalo Bills /Tampa Bay Buccaneers game.
I bought a few raffle tickets and the last thing I want is an Englishman standing between me and my chances to go to Florida when upstate NY gets really chilly.

No problems rolmops, I just don't like causing ill-feeling on the DC, there's enough in the world without me adding to it with ill-thought out responses.

You know Stan ,you got me thinking about my trip to the Isle of Skye. My visit to Hawk Hill ,which you probably know it as "Cnog-nan-Speireag" and the bottle of 25 year old Talisker together with the bottle of "The Drink That Satisfies" (drambuie).
I think you Scotsmen have captured the spirit of your Gods and put their essence in these great drinks you are known to keep the world happy with!!

Well ,I can understand how that could lean one away from Christianity at a young age when faced with choosing which Grandmother was worthy of being recieved into the kingdom of heaven.Along similar lines,a recent comment from the Vatican eluded to the plans of building a fence along the US/Mexico border as being an unwarranted sin against humanity and should not be followed through on.That comment IMO loses its merit coming from an entity whose compound is surrounded by walls in isolation of the surrounding society.Neither effect my personal faith but the deteroration of morals among church representatives and parishoners alike, have dampered my willingness to partake in public services over the years.

Re: I'm sick of politics. Let's discuss religion.

Cheers guys. Appreciate it.

I'll bet if God has night-cap in the evening it's a nice single Malt.................which reminds me of a little religious story.............

In the beginning as God created the Earth the angel Gabriel wandered up to him and looked over his shoulder at the plans.

Gabriel pointed to one section of the plan and said to God

"What are you going to call that country?"

"Scotland" replied God, "Why do you ask?"

"I'm just curious" replied Gabriel

"You have filled their rivers with the finest salmon and trout, put masses of oil, coal and gas under their grounds and seas.

You've given them forests of the finest trees in the world.

You've planted barley and wheat and given them the recipe and ingredients for our favourite whiskies.

You've created scenery unrivalled in the rest of the World.

You've given them the hearts of warriors and the souls of poets and you've made them the finest lovers in the world.

Their animals will provide them with the finest foods too."

God stopped for a moment and said "And your point is?"

"Why give one nation such wonderous natural wealth and abundance?"

And God did sigh and smile wryly and said................

"You haven't seen the neighbors I'm gonna lumber them with!" :love:d:)

I had hoped, fruitlessly, that with the election over some of the political squabble would die down, at least until the left screws something up real bad. No hope.

Ok Back to religion. The Buc's are 2-7 and the Bills are 3-6. Rolmops how do you see this game turning out?

BTW Have you ever been to Raymond James in Tampa Bay? Awesome place of worship.

I have absolutely no clue. From what I read in the papers, the Bills seem to be very intent on loosing, whatever way they can.
If the Buccaneers want to win the game,it is theirs, because the Bills are a lousy bunch of upstate soccer players!

If I am right, I will hopefully go to Heaven (or whatever is there) and learn the true meaning of what religion on earth is suppose to be."

I offer:
This is what it's all about. Any "Religion" that teaches this or similar philosophy can't be bad. Be it Jewish or Christian.
Got my vote!

Conflagration? A large destructive fire?
