Re: I'm so tired of this

My spring commissioning checklist just keeps getting longer, and nothing's getting checked off. Just too cold (for me) to work outside :(

In my darkest moments I see myself launching this year about a minute before I need to pull it for the winter!

I agree!

Had this week off and its been cool and rainy for most of it. Last snow and ice was about 10 days ago. Back to work next week and of course its going to be in the mid 70's by the end of the week.

Man, I HEAR YA!
This sheet is crazy! I was taking the trash out to the curb last night around 2am and it was coming down pretty good. We only ended up with a dusting here in southwest Ohio, but I am sooo ready to be on the lake. Not this crap!

I feel for ya.

That cold, snow and ice stuff is the reason I moved out of OH and down to FL back in 1976. Ended up going back north while in the military though. Never really liked the cold stuff as an adult. Yeah, as a kid it was fun... until I had to shovel the driveway when we lived in VA... and the drive was 1/4 mile long!

I remember it snowing on MAY 4th when I lived in Spokane, WA. Ugh! Really messed with my dad's head that time... he'd just flown up the day before from West Palm Beach! :D

Also hit a pothole during an APRIL snowstorm in MD when I was living there in the 1990s. Tore up the front of my '66 Mustang and knocked it completely out of alignment.

No more shoveling that stuff for me, thanks! :p

here in chicago been alittle better this year, we usually get what bubbas talking about, cold cold cold than hot, no warm.but we have already seen high 60's and supposed to hit 70 next week. Hey if it stay warm all year long we wouldn't be looking forward to getting boats in the water they would already be in the water

Here in Central Oregon the weather is really whacky. Last Saturday it was great weather and had climbed into the 60's. Great I thought, I took a trip out to the lake for a shake-down cruise, and to clear out all the cobwebs. I even took out the sandbacks from the back of the pickup, declaring Spring had arrived.

Imaginer my dissapointment when I woke up this morning to find it snowing -hard. It's still snowing as I type this, I think the planned cruise tomorrow is going to have to be cancelled :(

This has been a long, long winter for me. Lakes and reservoirs still have a foot of ice. I just took this pic on Wed morning. Although, it has been one of the best snowmobile seasons in a long time.

Re: I'm so tired of this

I hear you.
The week before last, the boat cover got ripped to shreads because of high winds. Last weekend was beautiful, so I put another cover on the boat and got some yard work done. This weekend it'll be too cold, but sunny.
From past experience, I wait until the 2nd week of April to finally begin work on the boat. If I do it sooner, it will surely snow again.
First thing is to get the motor going and then it's all about leisurely cleaning, waxing and making sure all else is working properly. No rush, the fish will be there when I get in.
See my closing line (below) to understand my philosophy.

Re: I'm so tired of this

The weather is so weird this year. Live in northern Ontario and in total this year we got under a foot of snow. The last 2 weeks was between 12-14 degrees celcius. Not sure what temp that is to our American friends. Only problem being we still have a foot of ice on the lakes. O well, one more week until the boat cover comes off and preperations for summer begin.
