I was about to write before your last post that if my budget was 40K I would through that price around the internet for a Cobalt 200. Its a nice roomy 20 foot boat that is really nice. My buddy just finished his second season with his. Its a great boat. His only issues have been a bolt on the ski tow coming lose, some of the Bimini screws needing to be tightened, and the screws that hold the gas strut for the storage compartment coming out. Its a great lay out, a quality build, and a super sharp boat.

I am a big stingray fan too, but at 40K you have the budget to step up a little from Stingray.

I can't answer your questions, but I can report that a Cobalt 200 takes waves and rough water significantly better than many other 20 foot boats. It is a wide and deep hull. That is why it weighs a good thousand pounds more than a 20 foot Stingray.

That Cobalt 200 is a nice looking boat, but the base MSRP on it is $49k. The boat's dry weight is 3500lbs (900lbs more than my Stingray) so that 4.3L MPI isn't going to cut it. Once you upgrade to the 5.0L MPI and add a few options like the Bimini and a decent stereo your pushing dang near $60k. I'm sure you can get it cheaper than MSRP but I bet it's going to be way more than the original $40k budget, but hey if we're talking budget busters add Chaparral to the list. The SSi 206 is a sweet boat.

Its funny because I was just speaking with the dealer before I logged on here. Yup the Cobalt is 49k ith the 4.3 and no trailer, forget all that. Im not not trying to gain a status symbol. I looked at Chapparal but there are not any dealers close to 44273. The Larson dealer is the closest out of my favorites at 20 minutes the Yamaha dealer is 2 hours. Stingray,crownline,glastron about 45 minutes.

You've got some good choices close to you for sure. I would test drive the Yamaha to see if you even want to consider it. Jet boats can be a little tricky to drive compared to stern drives. That whole no steering unless you're on the throttle thing. Fine for a jet ski, 20+' boat I'm not so sure about, but then again I've never driven one...

My buddy paid $38K cash and walked out the door with a 2012 in June last summer, fuel injected V6 and nice dual axel trailer. Its a pretty red hull, nice interior. Just keep throwing 40K up and see if they bite. It is the end of the year. If they don't bite, nothing ventured nothing lost.
