Im going to buy a real good manual for my old merc tbird 650 1970 4 cylinder.. I have water coming out from all around where the bottom of the block meets with what i believe to be the exaust housing.. This causes water to **** all over the inside of the cowl and on the lower spark plug making it rust.. You think its just my seal gone bung which i would in return need to remove the block and put a new seal or do you think it has something to do with corrossion?

I have another short shaft not long shaft like mine motor identical to this one and it has better compression around the 120 mark on all cylinders.. this one only has around 90-100 on all but then again a decarb hasn't been done in over 15-20 years from what i know.. If its full of carbon to the limit and i clean it all out with the decarb stuff.... how many psi could i possibly gain you think?

Anyway I don't know how to time a motor as its one of the things i haven't tried yet but i basically know alot of things in regards to my motor and i could take off the block and put the other one without to many problems... Clean the carbs and rebuild the fuel pumps and everything..

I have even stripped all the paint off the motor for a perfect repaint..

How long do you think it would take me to swap over the blocks and everything if i had a manual and never took on something like this.. If i want to remove the block from the shaft would this mean i also have to remove the fuel pumps, carbys etc..? or just remove anything that connected to the cowl and just undo the bolts from the bottom of the block?

Thanks guys
