I have a 90 hp J. and have had it since 1/05. The previous owner had mentioned that he had these replaced once a year. I had a 48 spl J. bought new and had motor for 3 years and never replaced these.

Obviously this is an older motor...but how often should this be done. If I take it to a shop how much should I expect to pay for this?

Thanks in advance.

Ric

Thanks Jim.

I realize now that I did not mention that this is a 1993 engine.

Any idea (approx.) what the cost to have them replaced is?

Ric,

Dunno how tech you are, but this is one of those jobs that you could probably do yourself even if lowtech.

Or you and a mechanically minded mate could do it together. Probably wrap it up in a morning, the first time.

Get a manual for your motor, read the section and see what you think.

Will do since that would be a good long term answer.

Thank you.
