impellar?

Hello once again! I replaced my impellar once already with what the dealer thought was the right one , but after 10 15 min in the drive-way on the muffs , I new something was wrong. Took it apart and the exhaust tube was melted and the impellar was thrashed and the inside of the housing had melted rubber all in it. I have a 1980 mercruiser 140 4 cyl 181 ciserial #707353 inboard , stern drive serial # 5655305 I want to know what kit I would need to replace everything, housing, impellar and gaskets etc.

Merc part # 46-96148 A5 or Sierra part # 18-3317 as long as the unit has a preload pin

it sounds like you are not getting water to the impeller. I would think even if it is the wrong one it would not pump correctly, but should not be fried like that after a few minutes on the muffs.
