impeller change on alpha 3.0

read everything here and it seams easy with the pictures i have seen linked to the posts on this <br />but one question . when i drain the gear oil i seam to be missing how the oil drains from the upper case to the lower case i only see the water tube there must be some type of oil passage because when i change gear oil it i pump it in to the lower case up through the upper case and into the plastic tank in the engine area.<br />thank you<br />tommays

Welcome to iboats.<br /><br />There is a small passage (about 1/4" hole) to the side of the water pump where the upper and lower meet. There's a quad ring (kinda square o-ring) that seals it.

i read through all the posts but oil passage and quad ring seal were not talked about i can see my self or any first timer puting back the lower unit with a damaged seal and going crazy trying to find the oil leak<br />i fell ready to change the impeller with that final bit of info<br /><br />thank you<br />tommays
