I have a 1998 Evinrude 60-degree V4. I'd like to install a water pump kit but for reinstalling the lower unit I'm reading things like:
"Replace inner exhaust housing seals regardless of condition," and
"Dip all attaching bolts in gasket sealing compound."
Are these steps necessary? The impeller kit is readily available, but who knew about the exhaust housing seals?
