impeller confusion

i recently purchased a raw water pump impeller for a aq271a, and the new impeller is shorter(31.5 mm tall) and mine is the same but taller(50.1mm) the part number that i came up with (876120) and on ebay i see they have both sizes. i have the shorter one here and i want to get the boat out this weekend but i dont want to put it back together if it will not fit correctly. i want to do it right the first time and not be on the water and fry the motor. i got a new bearing put in and a new seal. will this shorter impeller work or should i get a taller one and is there anything that i should do or look for when putting the raw water pump back together?

You probably have a newer style pump than what was originally on your engine.

i dont think it was anything special because it was red like the rest of the motor, will it hurt putting the shorter impeller in or should i order the bigger impeller like what was in it?

You can use the shorter pump, but it won't pump any water. You MUST have the proper impeller if you want to cool your engine.
