Re: Impeller Help..

Look at the table of contents to section 3B of the manual for dissassembly and reassembly of the pump. Pulling the drive is in section 2A.

If the drive is all ready off, do it on the bench, much easier IMHO.....:)

Re: Impeller Help..

Thanks for the info,, I'm looking online for the impeller, shouldn't all the seals be changed also?? I'm assuming mine is a gen 2 alpha one,, am I correct? Is it ok just to change the impeller,,, any idea what the mercruiser p/n is for the kit? Thanks.

Re: Impeller Help..

Yes, you have a Gen II drive. If you get the impeller KIT, (not just the impeller) it will come with the gaskets and seals needed to replace the impeller.

Re: Impeller Help..

It's a 95, so it IS a Gen II drive.
The impeller kit #47-43026Q06
Here are the parts in it.

Re: Impeller Help..

You have a few choices on what to buy. IF you have a Gen II, these are the parts:

Buy the impeller by itself (not recommended)
Sierra 18-3214 which is the impeller, plate and the gaskets and o-rings for +-$30.00
Sierra 18-3147 same as 3214 plus water pump housing and the water pump face seal and installer for +-$100.00

If you don't need the pump housing, buy 3214 and Merc part 26-816575A 2 to give you the the face seal and installer cup. Cost <$10.00.

Edit: (Don was quicker than me again. Go figure. Couldn't find the stupid face seal that doesn't come with the sierra kit, but looks like it does come with the Merc kit.)

Yes, the Merc kit comes with the face seal, and the installation tool. Kit lists for $45 on Mercury parts express

Re: Impeller Help..

Thanks for all the info.. I just ordered the 47-43026Q06 mercruiser kit. What is this installation tool your talking about that's included in the kit? What is it an o ring removal tool??

Re: Impeller Help..

The installation tool is just a little plastic cup that you use to slide the oil slinger seal down the shaft to the "perfect" height off the water pump housing. It comes with the face seal. When you're done, you throw it away.
