Impeller housing

I removed the impeller housing and was cleaning it. I noticed the port marked with the red arrow will turn.

Will this leak? Has anyone else experienced this?

it may, and probably will at some point

another issue is that it may draw air and cause the pump to not work properly resulting in an overheat

the replacement pump is solid brass unlike the original (as shown) which has plastic barbs pressed into the brass housing

Good point. I assume they had some issues and that's what it is all one piece now.

Mine has not leaked in the 20 years it has been working.
There is an "O" ring in there.
