Impeller not turning, getting stuck in housing

Ok I was on the lake and the overheat alarm went off. Shut it down quickly and got towed to the dock. Figured the impeller was dead. Took it home and submersed the lower unit in a tank and tried to run it. It started but water was not coming out the outlets. Changed the impeller, gaskets, and wear plate. Housing looked fine. Opened up the thermostat cover and found no thermostat. The drive shaft for the impeller turned freely by hand when putting on the impeller. Have no idea as to why it won't pull water. Also with the lower end in the tank, I can't feel and suction at all by the water inlets. Any help would be great.

A little upadate. I took the lower end off and found that the rive shaft is spinning and wore down the brass bushing inside the impeller. Basically the impeller is getting pushed against one side of the pump housing and getting stuck. The drive shaft kep spinning and wore down the slot inside the impeller. Not sure is the housing is warped, or maybe the drive shaft is bent. I don't see how I could of bent the drive shaft.

Yeah mine has an aluminum housing, but all the listing show Force 120's having a plastic housing. Not sure to stay with aluminum, or switch to plastic.

My 85hp has a keyway in the shaft and a slot in the impeller hub, with (you guessed it) a Woodruff key in between. By any chance is your key missing?

No its there, the key broke through the groove. While spinning, it basically acted like a lathe and wore down the inside of the impeller.

Are you quite sure you got the right impeller? Did you get the gasket and wear plate in the wrong order? The only way I can see this happening is if the impeller was too tall and got pinched top and bottom, or stuck on the gasket. A bent shaft is darn near impossible, even if you're trying to bend it.

New impeller and key time.Is it a 6 or 12 vane imp.Post pics of the pump and housing.
The pumps level must be underwater to work.It won't suck enough to pull it up.Once it's suckin it will continue to suck.On the muffs try taping them on and close all the holes.J

Basically the impeller is getting pushed against one side of the pump housing and getting stuck.

The impeller is designed to be off center in the housing.
