Impeller or impeller kit

I am going to try and replace the impeller on my 94 8 hp Merc outboard this weekend. Local boat dealer has the impeller for $18 or an impeller kit for $79. Generally, is it just the $18 impeller or is the kit needed?

Check out the housing 1st..if worn,replace with kit (prob. not if yours is a 94).<br />You can probably reuse the water tube seal also but check it out thoughly. So, with any luck, all you'll need is the impeller and the housing gasket( some people reuse the gasket also with a little permatex sealant)
