Always change the plate and liner (or housing if no liner). You could maybe get by with just the impeller but it's rarely worth not changing.

you should get the plate if you buy the complete water pump kit.
The water pump (in my opinion) is the single most important component of the motor. Don't skimp here, you may pay for it later!:D

It is not always neccessary to replace the plate and housing. If there is scoring, pitting, or coating from a failed impeller, then it is very neccessary. I agree great care must be taken when addressing the water pump and an OEM impeller is recommended along with a new key.

That plate looks fine. However...does that motor still have the aluminum pump housing in it? If so, if it were me, I'd replace the whole pump kit. The new ones are plastic with stainless steel liners. Much better!!

It's a lot like a cylinder - it looks good but looks can be deceiving.

no if i had to guess i say the pump was redone not to long ago. the housing is plastic with the liner and the impeller actually felt good but i had already purchased the kit.
