I removed the lu without any trouble today but cannot get the inpeller cover plate off. I have soaked it in pb blaster tried a punch with a 5 lb dead blow hammer and have mde a spanner wrench to fit the holes in the plate. all to no avail. Is there a key in the little notch in the housing next to the plate? Or is t5his plate possibly left hand threaded. Although I did try giving it a go in that direction Any help would be apreciated before I use a chisel and cut it in two.

It's a right hand (normal) thread. It's just corroded in place.

Not unusual to have to apply lots of heat to the area, along with penetrating oils to break it free.

Or, after mutilation takes place bust/break it out in pieces.

Be carefull to not damage the threads aroun the edge of it.

Might be best to find a new cover before breaking it out so you can envision the area best to break away.

I've heard of some using a dremel tool to slice away at it, but be carefull again to not damage housing or water pump cup below it.

Should be a wear plate between it and the impeller.

I've had sucess with heat, oil, and a big metal hammer with a good 1/4" pin punch.

Still no luck today I tried heat pb blaster 3/8 punch then pneumatic hamer with 3/8 punch. I am cutting a ring around the plat from the holes but no movement from the cover. Today I order the new cover so I can take her out.
Thanks for the advice.
