Doing a bit of research and reading up on the impeller for my Alpha 1. Can someone please answer the following:

1. Is it recommended to replace the whole pump or just the impeller? I have had no issues but have ran a year now without any maintenance to the OD. A few things I have read online seem to recommend replacing the whole pump assembly.

2. What parts should I order to complete this work on my own?

3. Should I be doing any other maintenance to the OD?

Boat has a 5.7 and an Alpha 1.

Thanks.

Impeller and gaskets is all thats needed. No need to replace the housing unless it's damaged.

Depends on what you have?

LOTS of other things, pulling the drive and checking bellows for water, alignment check, grease coupler splines, etc.

Those have been around in one style or another for many years. Got a serial number for your engine and drive, or even a year to help narrow it down a little bit.

Re: Impeller Replacement

I do not have the serial numbers handy but the OD is original 1978 and the motor was replaced in 2009. The engine is anti-freeze cooled.
