i have a early 70's merc 115 6cyl and am figuring out how to re-install the lower unit after replacing the impeller & i am cocerned about the sains on the impeller getting cupped the wrong way if i rotate the prop & shaft in order to get it to line up so the lower unit will mate to the mid section. I have been told to put it in reverse & rotate the prop to get my alignment. Is this correct & if not will the impeller "correct" itself or will it be backwards & result in improper water flow & overheat my engine ? Also if i can't rotate the prop what is the solution to my alignment problem ? really like this site good people w/ solid info want to say thanks again for helping the newbie get his feet wet.
