Where can I find a impeller for a 1973 eska out board 5 hp S/N 2m256587 Model# 1705-E . I have searched several websites and called some.
Most of the people I have talked with tell me that they do now have a listing for that part,or act like they do not have the time to try and help me find the part
The impeller is 1 and1/2 inches long made out of rubber and it has a pin that goes through the shaft that allows some movement.

Re: Impeller

Hogdoc, I'm worried about ya. I know you only asked about where to get an impeller, but when you get the pump housing off, you're gonna see an oil seal below the impeller in the gear housing, that the drive shaft runs thru. It often goes bad, leaks oil into the water pump impeller cavity, then the rubber impeller swells from the oil, and falls apart. What did the oil look like if you drained it? I'd suggest draining it, and if it's black or just really dark, life is good. If you see the color drifting towards the color of cream, maybe that seal's worth another look. Just puttin' it out there.

Re: Impeller

mahtmaht you worry to much,
easy way to check your seal while your putting the impeller in is just turn the foot up side down and let it set for a few hours and see if it leaks down.
I personally have never had a impeller swell because of gear oil...I have a dozen or more old and busted Eska impellers and all of them died because of old age and I guess I have pulled apart a couple dozen in my life....I would beleive leaking fuel from the carb due to a busted fuel pump element would get down there and damage the rubber much more than gear oil,
