Hi,

I would be interested to import a boat from the US to Morocco. I am interested in a bowrider 25' 2004+. I have found some good ones from FW and Chaparral at 35k$+ 2004+ but I dont seem to find many bowriders in Spain or Europe and the prices seems way to high. I am interested to import it and would like to know how does it work. The big concern I have is that I wouldn't be able to test it and check it.

Re the CE regulations that people face when importing boats to Europe, we don't have any in Morocco so it's all fine.

Please advise

Unless you travel to the U.S. to survey the vessel yourself, you are forced to hire a surveyor and take his word that the vessel checks out. His eyes however may see "condition" in a different light than yours. The next question is how would you transport the boat. That's no small expense either.

i have sold one to Canada, and one to Suriname. the buyer handle all shipping themselves. you need to locate a Forwarder, in the US, who can accept the boat for you, and carry out the freight arrangements, and documentation, or buy from a dealer who will ship. i do know that the Bayliner line has dealer in many countries, and their new 205 is an excellant boat.

There are many down here in South Africa, it would be cheaper to ship from here up to Northern Africa ...... then from anywhere overseas .....

Re: Import a boat from the US

I would say shipping is not the issue as it should fit in a 40 footer. I know the procedure is straight forward as I bought a new ML350 over the phone and had the shipping company pickup the car at the dealership and then sent hee. I was not worried as the car was brand new and under warranty. Shipping was like 2k$ but this was nothing compared to the 25k$ I saved.

The concern I have is having the boat checked out. Any idea about a good surveyor? I guess I should find one in the area where the boat is? how is the pricing done?

I would say shipping + Surveyor shouldnt be more than 5k$ so if I find the same boat in south of spain at 5k$ more, I would consider trailing it from there.
