I took delivery of a new pontoon last month and since we still have ice on some of our northern lakes and the weather has been less than pleasant were we are, it still has not been splashed. But that's a good thing and the Boating Gods were looking out for me. As I always do when taking delivery of a new rig, I crawled all over the rig from the bottom up. Easy to do when the toon sits on a bunk trailer. Having fixed some the really annoying things that makes you wonder "what were they thinking" I felt confident we were ready to go. Well I got down and under again the other day and darned near had a stroke after seeing the nuts on the two left side spring shackle bolts had been started but not tightened. This rig would not have made the 500 mile round trip next month to our favorite fishing hole. To Shorelander I say "shame on you". To my dealer I say "shame on you". Both will get a tongue lashing in the next couple of days. This should get your attention and make you aware at how important periodic inspections are. Here are a couple pictures of what I found.
