Here is a link to the official BRP (Formerly OMC) parts catalogs for your engine.
Find the year and the correct model number and see what gaskets you REALLY need.
Just click on the "View Parts Catalog" button, then click the PRODUCTS dropdown menu and go to Sterndrive.
From there find the year, and verify the model number. If there isn't your model number, try an earlier year.
Boat year and engine year usually are not the same.

Without even knowing what model number you actually have, I tried the first 2 model numbers under the 7.5 in 87 and found 2 different manifold gasket set numbers. Not sure how many others there are.

lemme tell ya..... theres a few lol! what do your ports look like? are they round.... i had to retro-fit mine.. even the right numbers were sent and there was only 1/16'', if that of material for the manifold to sit on. make sure you make impressions on the gaskets before you torque them down. to make sure theres enough beef to bite into. otherwise theyll be sucked in, and leak. i even tried the pizza box ones and all they do is rust out. (steel gaskets)
sems that 460's dont like lifters or cams?! take a nice straight edge and make sure that the rocker studs are all the exact height. then you should shim the difference if any. i use feeler gauges and shim stock. dont forget the machinist's straight edge.
not to be an arse but, have you flip floped and turned and twisted em?
edit. not the studs but the bosses where the rockers ride on should be the same height.

I just did this job on mine.

I got the gaskets from Napa.....They are the correct marine gaskets.

Works good, lasts a long time!

Rick
