Re: Improving Boating

I've learned to have enough gas for the entire day of planned activity (I actually learned that twice, but the first time was not so bad)

I also learned to anchor in deep enough water accounting for the tide to go out, etc, and to use two anchors when leaving the boat unattended. ( I also learned that twice, but the second time was not so bad)

 :D

So... just how bad were those second and first times?

Re: Improving Boating

If trailering, check it over good at least once a year.

Once loaded up for vacation and ended up blowing two tires out in a construction zone,
wasted a beautiful day sitting on the side of the highway.:embarassed:

Fixed the springs while on vacation.

Wow these are some good tips!

What things have you add to accessories have you added to your boat that have really made for a better boating experience?

I am thinking about adding a flush mount set of docking lights and LED lighting inside the boat. That seems to be one of the main things missing on this model. I was at the Atlanta Boat show and was talking to a vender that suggested any color LED BUT white. He told me the white will give off so much light you will have a glare bounding back at you. I am not sure about that as I have carpet, however if I had a Center Console I could see how that might happen.

There is a built in cooler in the passenger side console however I am thinking about mounting a small portable cooler under the sun pad. The only problem with that is you would have to raise and lower the pad to access it and that might be a hassle. Also you would not be able to access the cooler while under way...I will have to think about this one.

3) when boating only with your wife and stay overnight in a marina onboard , look for a marina with some waves. it might get funny next morning when your boat was the only one which swinged in harbour on a perfectly calm night when your wife wanted to thank you for a save and perfect boating day .

While working at a marina there was a house boat with a sign, "If the boats a rocking - Don't be a knocking" it was a 50' house boat 16' wide and as a kid I never understood HOW anyone would be able to rock that boat!?!

I wouldn't bother. Have them on our boat and never use them. A rechargeable spotlight however can come in handy.

Add a grill, makes for a great break from the water sports, swimming. Much better than a cooler lunch.

An evening cruise with dinner is a great way to wrap up a summer day.
