I have an in-dash depth finder on my boat. I am unsure of the brand, as I bought the boat used. The mainline from the exterior unit is installed, but i have a small cluster of wires exiting the unit un-installed. I would like to wire up the unit to see if it still works before buying another one.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram from an in-dash unit that I could use as a reference that may help me figure out the wiring and where they should go. Thank you.

Look up Humminbird.com you might get lucky and find the unit you have. They also have instillation diagrams you can download.

Re: In-dash depth finder wiring diagram

You should have three to four connections. 1) transducer (either thru-hull or stern mounted). 2) +12 volts when the key is on should connect to the "I" (ignition) or "+" terminal on the gauge. 3) Ground is the "-" connection on the gauge. 4) If the gauge is lit, it will have another terminal probably designated "L" and it will normally be connectd to either the NAV/ANC switch or if your instrument lights are on any time the key is on, it can be connected to +12 volt "I" terminal. The transducer normally has a unique connector on its cable so connecting it should be obvious. Some depth finders have a single connection on the back but the cable connecting the transducer has another cable attached to it that provides the +12 volt and ground connections. Either way, +12 volt and ground are required for operation.
