Hello,
I'm looking for a little guidance with my In Hull Transducer installation.
What I have:
Boat: 2005 Bayliner 175
Depth finder: Hummingbird HDR 610p
With a limited amount of space I elected to go with just a depth gauge instead of the full fish finder/depth gauge. I will be mounting the gauge in-dash and have all the wiring figured out.
Question: I?ve poured over the internet and have found very little for guidance on where to mount the puck style transducer. What little info I have found I now know not to mount it near the bilge pump and not to mount it to far forward or it wont read at high speeds. Looking into the hull I am very limited as to where the puck can be mounted. The one place I have come up with is in the engine compartment in front of the engine just to left of the V bottom. See diagram.
The instructions talk about filling the hull with water and moving the transducer around until you find a good spot. I don?t understand this and wondered why you just can?t mount it inside the hull and be done with it.
Have any of you installed a transducer this way before and if so, where did you mount it? I'm looking to save some time in mounting this and hopefully save money by not mounting in the wrong location and having to buy a new puck.
Thank you in advance,
Chad
